How AI Auto-Resolves Insufficiencies

How AI Auto-Resolves Insufficiencies

Overview
When a candidate responds to an insufficiency — by uploading a document, adding a comment, or both — SpringVerify AI now automatically evaluates the response and clears the insufficiency if it's satisfied. This means faster TAT and fewer back-and-forth follow-ups.

Who is this for?
Company Admins and HR teams managing candidates whose checks are marked as Insufficient.

What is an insufficiency? An insufficiency occurs when the information or documents provided by a candidate during BGV are incomplete or unclear — for example, a missing employment date or an unreadable degree certificate. Our team raises an insufficiency request to the candidate to provide the missing information.

How it works

  1. Candidate responds to the insufficiency — Your candidate uploads a document, adds a text comment, or both through their BGV form link.
  2. AI evaluates the response — The system automatically checks:
    • Whether the uploaded document type matches what was requested
    • Whether the text reply addresses the insufficiency reason
    • Whether key details (name, dates, institution, company name) match the check data
  3. If the AI is confident (≥70% confidence):
    • L1 insufficiencies (raised during case analysis) → auto-cleared, check moves to Ready to Initiate
    • L2 insufficiencies (raised during verification) → auto-cleared, check moves to In Progress for grading
  4. If the AI is not confident → The insufficiency stays open and our team reviews it manually, exactly as before.

What to expect

  • Insufficiencies are now resolved faster — often within minutes of a candidate's response.
  • You'll see the check status update automatically once an insufficiency is cleared.
  • All auto-resolutions are logged. You can track activity in the candidate's verification timeline.

Which check types does this apply to?
Employment, Education, Identity, Address, Court, Reference, and Custom checks — covering 99%+ of all insufficiency types raised on SpringVerify.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I be notified when an insufficiency is auto-resolved?
The check status will update on your dashboard. Your standard email notification settings apply.

Q: What if the AI clears an insufficiency incorrectly?
The AI is designed to be conservative — it only auto-clears when confident (≥70%). If you ever spot an issue, contact your SpringVerify account manager or reach out to support.

Q: Does this change what candidates see when they respond?
No. The candidate experience remains the same.
